I began project #5 by drafting some locations featured in my story idea. I eventually decided on making one indoor location and one outdoor location, for the 'original universe' and 'fantasy universe' respectively.

For the outdoors background, I wanted to make it seem more fantastical and contrast with the indoors background. My aim was that the abundance of green nature would contrast with the human establishment that was the restaurant I decided on illustrating. I tried to emphasize otherworldliness with a colossal tree and less modern/urban architecture.

I already had in mind to do more of a lineartless style, so my thumbnail sketches were blocked colors. After creating the final pieces with color, I felt that something was missing. For finishing touches, I added filters and shifted the hues of my pieces. For the indoors one, I made it just slightly desaturated, while I swapped the colors in the outdoors one to be less typical in

order to make it seem more fantastical. I'm not very used to making backgrounds so I feel like they look a little flat. I also think I could use some improvement in composition.
