Storyboard artists are responsible for making visual outlines or storyboards for movies, shows, etc. They sketch key camera angles, character positions, and motion. They must communicate with directors and writers to follow the tone and flow of the envisioned final product.


Required credentials to become a storyboard artist are a high school diploma or GED and likely an art portfolio.


College majors that provide training for this career include animation, illustration, film & TV, fine arts, graphic design, and possibly game design. (Top) Schools that offer good programs in this area are DePaul University, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Ringling College of Art and Design, Savannah College of Art and Design, California Institute of the Arts, School of Visual Arts, and University of Southern California.
